Am I Really "Online" With God??

Our second lesson in our small group's workbook is about Prayer! As humans our near fatal flaw is always our tendency to lean on our OWN understanding. We as humans usually have NO problem seeking God in all the MAJOR, frightening areas of our lives. For example the illness of a loved one, financial problems, marriage and relationship problems, etc. God is often the one we seek in such adversities. But......We need to bring EVERY situation to God, lean on him and ask his direction in ALL things. If we can trust him to help with the major problems....what keeps us from bringing ALL to him....even the small things?? We often forget what a resource God is for our decisions. God's presence is always open to us.....What a blessing! Prayer could be called the ignition key to fire up the process to finding God's will!! If we want to know God's will in our lives....first we need to ask him! Prayer is a fundamental and very important part of our relationship with God. Just like any relationship, communication is all sooooo important!! We must be honest with God in praying and communicate with him from our hearts. We must know that nothing is off limits with him and we can share anything with God. There are no magic words, just our honest thoughts and the power HE has. Prayer is powerful only because God is powerful. I must trust that God knows what is best for me and he promises me peace. He may sometimes say, "NO," but I need to trust his will for me is what is going to best for me in the end.....even if it does not appear that way right now. So....how willing am I to give it all to God....even the smallest of decisions and things in my life?? If you are like me, you may often forget to take the small things to God, or maybe like me you are just inclined to do things yourself and don't remember to take ALL things to him. Maybe you do not feel worthy to take anything to him, or feel you have been failed so many times in the past...that it seems pretty useless or hopeless!! Nothing could be further from the truth. God loves us with a love like none other and he is there for us and will listen to our heartfelt prayers. My prayer tonight is that I do not forget to pray about ALL things and that nothing seems too trivial to take to him. May I always remember that a good relationship with God begins with good, honest, communication with him. May God bless you this week with building an honest, heartfelt realtionship with him!
